Story:
Set on the backdrop of the slums of Mumbai, the story begins with two teenagers Vijay (sharman) and Yakub (faruk) who take to the mean streets and indulge in crime. However, their life takes a turn when they are wrongly convicted for murder and from there to the juvenile home. Here, both of them see terror in the form of their senior inmates and especially the warden (naseeruddin). Their aggression and power is scuttled to pieces by the warden and they face the heat. However, life goes on and they become twenty plus. Both Vijay and Yakub decide to rule the same slums they were raised in and also take their revenge. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with a hard hitting subject and both the presentation and narrative were good. The dialogues were brutal, the script was tight, the screenplay was effective. Background score was capturing. Cinematography was top notch. Editing was crisp. Costumes didn't have much to do while the art department was impressive. Sharman has come up with one of his best performances ever, he looked icy and mean. Faruk is another revelation and he is another talent to be kept in mind. The real showstealer was Naseeruddin Shah and though his presence was brief, he gives a strong impact. Anjana looks sensuous but her presence was brief, same goes for Rukhsar. Suhasini was good, Zakir Hussain was excellent, Atul Kulkarni was amazing, Vikram Gokhale was neat.

Conclusion:
The film finds its inspiration from the Hollywood super hit movie 'Sleepers' which had a dream cast. While the first half is about the mean and realistic things of life, the second half gets a bit dragged and it is not until the climax that the momentum picks up. Though the film has been taken well and the content was honest, it is the brutality and overbearing of negativity that not many audiences would want to see. Overall, the film must be appreciated for its realism but this is not something for all genres of viewers. At the box office, this will be an above average grosser.
