Often we come across programs who require SP 3/ SP 2 for running.. and we have different SP installed.. One such example is of GTA IV.. which requires SP 3.. Now we all know that SP 2 is way better than any other SP so it's not worth installing a fresh copy of OS SP 3 just to play a game.. you can also fool the GTA IV server by changing you SP without installing a new OS..
Just follow the following steps
->Click start, Run and type regedit
->GOTO HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> System -> Current control Set -> Control -> Windows
->Now the window on Right side will display some key names.. There will be a key name "CSD Version".
Right click on it, click on "modify Binary Data"
Values will come up like this 0000 00 02 00 ..........
that "02 00" defines your SP version..
Change it to "03 00" to run GTA IV
or change it to any value.. I am currently running Windows XP SP 158.. NOTE:- Before messing around Registry, it's recommended that you should save a back up of it cause if anything went wrong your PC may crash...
