Release Date: December 24, 2010
Story
A superficial tale, the story is set on the backdrop of Mumbai and here lives Vivaan (Akshay oberoi) who is a student and is also the head of the dramatics department of the college. On the other hand, there is Rajnandini (sandeepa dhar) who hails from Ajmer and she comes to Mumbai to pursue her further education. As expected, she chances upon Vivaan and even fate has few cards to play to get them closer. Though both Vivaan and Rajnandini like each other, they don't express their feelings. Whether they express it or not and what happens after that forms the rest of the story.
Presentation
The director has come up with a typical traditional storyline but then the presentation was rich while the narrative was weak. The dialogues were alright, the script was written very poorly though it had few good moments. The screenplay was mild. Background score was catchy but songs were a total letdown. Cinematography was excellent. Editing was required badly during the second half. Costumes were trendy, conventional and stylish while the art department made its presence felt in a big way. Akshay Oberoi comes up with an effective performance though it is his debut and he does justice to it. He has a good screen presence. Sandeepa looks scintillating and her beautiful looks make her more adorable to the camera. Mohnish Behl was moderate, Prachi Shah was alright, Aditya Raj was not upto the mark while Shagufta Ali was matured. The others did their bit as required and most of them were there to fill the screen.
Conclusion
This is yet another attempt by the makers to come up with a film like 'HAHK' or 'Maine Pyar Kiya'. However, the biggest drawback for this is the writing which makes the film very stale and not exciting at all. Already, such subjects are being dealt with in a big way on the small screen circuit. While the opening takes off well, the film begins to lose the momentum with each passing scene. Things go totally off mark during the second half. At the box office, the openings might be good as family audience would want to try it and holiday season is on but the film is likely to fizzle out very soon.
Bharatstudent verdict: Artificial!!
